The Venn Puzzle is a surprisingly difficult dexterity challenge and an intriguing addition to your desk, bookshelf or coffee table.

The process of assembling the puzzle can provide a meditative break in your day or occupy your hands for conversation or deep thought.

The Venn Puzzle is made up of three identical die-cast stainless steel pieces. While the finished object looks simple, the design and manufacturing process was actually the most complicated yet.

Use it to challenge your friends, to surprise a puzzle lover, or just to think about the density of solid stainless steel.

The assembled Venn puzzle creates a perfect sphere - so each piece is one third of the sphere by volume. These parts are cast from molten stainless steel in a "die" or mold at temperatures in excess of 2500°F.

The Venn Puzzle is very similar in size to a standard pool ball (2.25 inches), but almost five times its weight. Each individual piece weighs nearly 10 ounces and the complete puzzle weighs one pound 10 ounces.

It is surprisingly heavy and cold to the touch. As you slide the puzzle open and closed, the pieces move in unison like the blades of a camera aperture.

To put the puzzle together, you have to precisely align six different dots simultaneously - the trick is that you can't see all six dots at once.

You have to slowly adjust and realign until all the pieces are in the correct orientation, then - *success* - everything slides together.

Mechanical puzzles have fascinated designers and engineers for hundreds of years. Experts, amateurs, and everyone in between have found fun and satisfaction trying to master these physics puzzles.

We wanted to see if we could make one with our own geometry that assembled into a solid stainless steel sphere. We loved the contrast of the rougher, more angular inner faces with the smooth, curved outer surface.

The Venn Puzzle is the most complicated production project we have ever tackled. We've been developing the product for almost 2 years: fine-tuning the geometry, finding the right manufacturing partner and refining the finishing process. We are finally ready to go into production and plan to fund our first series with this campaign.

The tooling is done, the final samples are in hand, and we're ready to bring the Venn Puzzle to life!
