Ripstop nylon was the ingenious solution to replacing the silk used for parachutes during World War II, when our airborne troops needed an ultralight fabric that could survive combat. Incorporating a cross-hatched pattern of strong reinforcing threads into the weave of the lightweight nylon helped prevent the holes that formed from spreading - a critical feature thousands of feet above the ground . We've made our compact ripstop nylon briefcase with a rugged variation of this revolutionary fabric, to withstand the abuse of countless miles of travel. Made of Cordura®, our 500D ripstop nylon is lightweight, yet strong enough to resist abrasions, punctures and tears.
